My Reading Habits

Since young, reading has been one of my great pleasures and habits. Reading a book is like...... going into a different world in different character's view. In addition, it also teaches us life morals and gives us all kinds of different stories. There are different kind of characters from all walks of life. Reading can be beneficial, yet it can also be harmful to us too. Why do I say that? Let us imagine a person reading a book that contains lots of unpleasant words and improper language, the person will turn to be an impulsive, rude and obstinate person. Hence, reading really has a great impact on us, readers.

While, I started reading at about the age of 3 ......to 4( not so vividly), but I start reading famous authors' novels at about 7. As I grew up, life really began to change when I did not have adequate time to read when I was Primary 5 and 6. As a result, I became quite reckless and lazy to read. That was the time when my parents started to panic as they felt that reading is really very important and necessary. Hence, they started to buy and borrow quite many books for me to read during my free-times. Here was when I started to change for the better. I had read almost all the books my parents got for me and my passion for reading started to return......

Now I am Sec 1 and is currently attracted by wider range of books. From an autobiography to a novel. In addition, I also take the my free-time to read and READ...... One of the novel which I had finished reading recently is Nothing But The Truth. In my opinion, I really feel that it is an interesting book and it is well-written.

Once again, I am going to emphasize on the importance of reading. Reading gives us inspiration and it is something that we must do every single day. Imagine a guy who reads a lot communicating with another guy who does not even read. What will it be like? Obviously, there will be a severe lack of communication and understanding between them. The reader will have more knowledge that the other one. Therefore, what message I am trying to convey is that Reading is important to us and it is always good to READ! My motto: People can READ the world if they READ.

I will like to tell you that READING really worths it. Try it and you will not regret. Trust me a.

Why did I do it?

The diary as follow is from Philip Malloy's point of view:

Dear diary,

What was I exactly doing? Tansferring from Harrison School to Washington Academy. And losing all my close friends. I was...... sort of confused and puzzled over my feelings and thoughts. What was I exactly thinking? Baffled, I once thought I hated my former school and...... Ms Narwin for not allowing me to sing or hum the "star-spangled banner" but it did not turn out that way. What was I exactly feeling? Actually, I was....... also confused whether I really hoped to transfer school but the truth finally turned out when it was all too late. I...... I actually did not wish to transfer school and I also did not want the issue of suspending me for singing"star-spangled banner" to be so highly publicised. In addition, I was not very happy when people felt sorry and sympathetic of me. In fact, the truth was...... I did not really hate her, Ms Margaret Narwin like my other former classmates. Of course, I also did not want her to be blamed by the public as the truth was...... I was wrong at first. In my opinion, I really know that Ms Narwin has the best interest of me(student) and she really cares and put a lot of effort to educate me but my obstinate behaviour caused all her efforts to show futility. To me, she was like trying to heal a gaping wound with a tiny strap of plaster. I was just too incorrigible and did not want to...... lose. Too afraid to lose. But what was done was already done. It was all too late. It was all my fault. My fault! Deep in my heart, I want to say this to Ms Narwin, " Ms Narwin, I am really sorry."

The BIG word "Integrity"......

Integrity......? What is your definition for this word? In my opinion, this means honesty and being truthful to oneself and others. But almost everyone who knows this BIG word but they do not imply it in life!

Why do I say so......? Now, let us take a look at the recent news. Who is on the headline......? Yes, Michael Phelps is the infamous guy. To me, his news of taking drugs is at verge of complete shock value as he was the amazing guy who obtained eight golds in the Olympic. How marvellous is that? But what is even more "marvellous" is him taking drugs. Apparently, this news is quite shocking, is'n it? Obviously, he did the wrong thing that caused him reputation to be deeply ruined though the authorities proved that the will not affect the number of golds he obtained. But let's us contemplate again...... Do you agree with me that everyone is fallible and is capable at making mistakes? Who did not ever make a single mistake in life?

In my opinion, making mistakes cannot be avoided and this is also part of our life. Actually, they are beneficial to us as with all these mistakes that we made, we will then remember it in our mind not to make the same mistake again and, thus we will be more careful and cautious in future. Hence, I strongly think that it is really not a very serious problem for us to make mistakes, but what really matters is we should refrain ourselves from making these mistakes again. As the saying goes,"One moment of folly is enough."
